Backstory: Satsuki‘s parents had what one might call a forbidden romance. Her Okaa-san (mother) lived in Kyoto Japan and was a Geisha in one of the okiyas there. Geisha‘s are not meant to love or be wives, but love rarely ever follows any set of rules…

Phoenix was on one of his many jobs investigating the death of an official in Kyoto when his cleverness led him to Amaya‘s mother. The woman had a rare talent. She had predicted the exact day and moment the man would pass from the world, and although Phoenix had obviously heard of seers this woman didn’t receive premonitions of prophecies or the future. No. Her visions always carried the news of life and death. The elderly woman didn’t help much in the investigation but she had directed him in Amaya’s direction. To this day Phoenix still believes she saw Satsuki’s birth before he ever met her mother.

Phoenix Wulfric Malfoy was no stranger when it came to the fairer sex. He had never had problems acquiring women even after he made it perfectly clear that he wasn’t built for commitment. It wasn’t them...it was him. He knew that line was often used as an easy way out and perhaps that was what he used it for, but he did not under any circumstances use them. He had a fine taste for women and enjoyed lavishing them with affection. Although his arrogance sometimes suggested otherwise, he had always respected women. And it had all started with her.

Amaya is the only woman he’s ever loved beyond initial physicality and the only one he ever went back too despite her lifestyle. He even considered giving up his career and asking for her hand, but they both knew it wasn’t a possibility. She couldn’t leave her world no more than he could his. So they kept their relationship and their love a secret for years.

One day after a long period of silence between them, he received an owl requesting his presence with an address enclosed. Wasting no time, he quickly apparated only to be shocked to find himself in the middle of a bustling hospital in Japan. Washed with confusion he quickly began searching the premises until he found Masago. The young girl had been one of the workers in Amaya’s okyia for as long as he could remember. When he asked her about Amaya she simply nudged him towards a room, where he found her laying almost motionless in the bed while the machines that beeped loudly monitored her activity.

His heart almost stopped and his breath caught in his throat. It wasn’t until she awoke and reached for him did he rush to her side. She explained to him that she was dying of a broken heart. The technical term was decreased left ventricular-systolic function. When she told him it couldn’t be fixed he immediately protested begging her to come back with him and let his family doctors examine her-

“Shhh my Phoenix, there are some things even you can’t fix.” Her hand moved out of his and up to cup his cheek.

He covered her hand with his and looked up at the ceiling, taking in a deep breath. Her voice was always delicate and the English language never sounded so beautiful as it did coming from her lips. He couldn’t quite wrap his mind around what was happening. “So...what do we do?”

“We wait, they’re going to unhook all of these machines...and then we just wait.”

He closed his eyes tightly. “W...when?”

Almost as if on cue, the door opened and the doctors came in.

“Now, my Phoenix...now.” Amaya looked at the man in the white coat and nodded.

“No...no...not now, I haven’t- not enough time! Ama I...”

She shushed him quietly once more as the machines were turned off. “I know, you don’t have to say it. I’ve always known, and I will always be with you.”

The minutes seem to fly by too quickly. How does one say everything they’ve always wanted to say in a matter of minutes? He couldn’t find the words, so he just sat there holding her hand until she stopped holding his. As she took her last breath, one single tear rolled down is cheek. Leaning over he kissed her forehead. “I always loved you my Ama.”

Then just like that, she was taken from him. He had no idea how true her words about always being with him really were until he turned around and saw the most beautiful little girl he had ever set his eyes on. He knew immediately that the child had to be his. She was the perfect mixture of them both, but he needed to hear it. Almost as if Masago read his thoughts she looked at him and said, “Her eyes, YOUR soul.”

So Satsuki was scooped up into her father’s arms and protectively taken home to his family. It had taken all of five seconds for him to be just as in love with the small child as he had been her mother.

Suki was accepted to the Malfoy family with open arms, despite the fact that she was born out of wedlock and that the romance with the mother had been kept a secret for so long.

Although she missed Japan, she was a happy child who loved so freely and so much that it sometimes seemed as if she would burst from it. She had dreams of returning to Japan someday to prove to them all that her mother had not been a disgrace by any means.

All through her childhood years and as she grew older there was a slight twinge of guiltiness that plagued her. She had always blamed herself for her mother‘s death. She had died of a rare disease that occurs in only 1 out of 20,000 women who have a baby and it is rarely ever fatal. Not only that, but Satsuki had inherited her grandmother’s gift and had seen her mother’s death before it had happened. Being four at the time, she was frightened and unsure of what she had experienced and never uttered a word of it to anyone. She still hasn’t told anyone and anytime she gets one of her premonitions she simply remains quiet about it…for she’s afraid of what might happen if she reveals her secret.

Attempt to steal her and I will hunt you down then club you several times over the head…we’re talking serious brain damage here. Have some tact people and get your own creative way of thinking.
